BJ's Wholesale Club

ThumbnailThe web design firm I was working for at the time was on retainer with BJ's Wholesale Club to provide continual web support and design. In the late summer of 2000, they requested that we provide a site refresh for their existing site (which we had also built). A look and feel had been agreed upon months prior to my involvment, so my role was primarily one of a developer

Skills, Technologies, Etc.

HTML, PERL/CGI

My Role:

Developer, Designer

Results:

The only hitch in this project was the realization midway through that the administrative tools we had built for the earlier site were no longer sufficient for the site's needs. So, the tools had to be modified, and in come cases rebuilt. Luckily, the project team had a full-time developer to deal with those issues, so I didn't have to slog through file after file of Perl scripts.

The design and site architecture are both fairly simple, and were dictated to me by prior agreements with the client. This site is essentially brochure-ware, so building it out was not difficult technically. The raw design required some tricky HTML at times, but nothing outrageous.

This project also involved follow-on work, as we were on retainer, and periodic maintenance was required.
