Whitman Campus Tour

Summer 1997

http://www.whitman.edu/tour/

ThumbnailI built this site at the behest of the office of admission, the summer after my freshman year. This is actually the second version of it. The unfortunate reality of this site is that NONE of it is automated. It would seem like the perfect opportunity to use some sort of script to format each page. I did begin work on a CGI based version of the tour my Senior year (in the interest both of a better design and improved scalability), but the admission department was uninterested and it was never completed. Plans are underway to build an entirely new version in Flash, and provide a backend for it as well. My gift to the college, if I ever finish it.

Note: It looks like they've dumped my tour finally and replaced it with something else, including the spiffy flash-ish version I worked on as a senior. Drawing a map of the campus in Illustrator was not fun, let me tell ya...
