ThumbnailPart of my job in college - first as a consultant, and then as a manager - was to work on the Consultant Command Center. This was an intranet site for others who worked the same job that I did, aimed at increasing overall productivity and effectiveness. I worked on a major content overhaul in 1998, and during the summer of 1999, decided to give it a facelift.

HTML, Javascript, Perl/CGI

My Role:

Lead Designer, Developer

Results:

The basic design of this site is the same as the WCTS site, with some obvious color changes. The theory was to integrate WCTS, the Consultant's Intranet, and several other technology department sites with a uniform site architecture and design. The only design difference would be the color scheme changes.

Again, the overall theory behind this design was that it be dynamically generated, so maintenance would be easy. At the time, it was fairly advanced, although most of the time-savings can easily be reproduced by applications like Dreamweaver nowadays.

Some of the more useful features of this site/intranet are things that were developed prior to my taking ownership of the site, but I was responsible for maintaining them, as well as adding features. Among those features were time-tracking and shift-exchange applications, as well as basic knowledge management tools. Not bad for an employee base of 30.
